WHAT ABOUT US
2020/ONGOING
In my ongoing series, "What About Us," I embark on a journey deep into the heart of the struggles endured by immigrants and minorities amidst the tumult of ever-tightening policies and divisive rhetoric. It's a quest to illuminate the harsh realities faced by young souls, whose dreams are overshadowed by the constant specter of status-related consequences.
The burden of living without the reassurance of legal stability, the relentless dread of legislative shifts, and the ceaseless fight for fundamental rights like education, work, and residency form the very essence of my artistic narrative. The travel ban, just one facet of this ordeal, serves as a poignant symbol of a larger landscape of injustice that spans administrations.
As I ponder the uncertainties of the future, post-election, and the trials that await in 2021, my heart is drawn to safeguarding the identities of these resilient individuals, whose very existence is unfairly labeled as criminal by a system meant to embrace and uplift. Through my work, I seek not only to challenge the policies that constrain them but also to stir the collective conscience of a society that must confront these injustices with courage and compassion.
